Intercontinental Chicago Staycation

Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone had a great weekend, hopefully you got some holiday shopping done. These December weekends are so action packed with holiday fun, but also just seem to fly by!

Speaking of holiday weekends, I’ve been meaning to share more about our weekend staycation in the city when my family stayed at the Intercontinental Chicago. With all the hustle and bustle of December, I’m so glad we were able to sneak away as a family to kick off the holiday season.

The Intercontinental Chicago was the most perfect hotel for our young family. First off you can’t beat the location, right on Michigan Avenue and close to basically everything! It also offers the most amazing city views from their beautiful rooms.

Day 1

The amenities at Intercontinental Chicago were amazing and so focused on fun for the whole family! We booked the Snuggle Is Real Package, which is an absolute must if you have young kids.

Upon arrival to our rooms, we were treated to a cute plush lion, cozy blanket and the kids’ favorite…a decorate your own cookie plate. They were so excited and instantly got to work on their cookies!

The Snuggle is Real package also provides unlimited movies and a $50 in room dining credit. And my kids were totally content to just order some pizza room service and watch movies in our amazing suite all night long!

Day 2

The next day we woke up bright and early, my husband ran downstairs to the Starbucks that happens to adjoin the Intercontinental lobby (an added bonus). And then it was off to the pool!

Seriously the pool at the Intercontinental Chicago is so gorgeous! It’s actually one of the oldest pools in city and one of the biggest in the country, and almost 100 years old! You’re literally swimming in a piece of Chicago history.

To our surprise we saw that night they were featuring a “Dive In” movie which happened to be Polar Express. My kids were so pumped!

Not only did they have a huge projector screen set up, but cute peppermint floats, reindeer mix to munch on and pineapple margaritas for the grown ups! It was literally the best way to kick off the holiday season.

That night after all the swimming, we ordered a special room service option Intercontinental Chicago offers for the holiday season. Milk and cookies straight from one of Santa’s helpers, such a cute idea!

Day 3

The next morning we went up for one more swim in the gorgeous pool, before packing up to head home. Downstairs they had transformed their lobby overnight and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas!

There is no doubt we will be making our staycation at the Intercontinental Chicago an annual trip. We had the best time together and I’m pretty sure our kids will be talking about Polar Express in the pool for a long time! Such a magical Christmas moment!

Thanks again Intercontinental Chicago for helping us make such amazing family memories!
