My Dream Kitchen

So it’s only fitting my first design related post be about my kitchen. It truly is the heart of our home, and not a day goes by that I don’t feel lucky to spend most of my day here.

When we built our house the one thing I knew is I wanted an all white kitchen.  I had drooled for months on pinterest and instagram over gorgeous light and bright kitchens, and knew that was exactly how I would design mine.  Also on my wish list was a huge island, ours is 5 X 10 and I love it!  It can accommodate all the kids, which is where we eat most meals, and it’s perfect for hosting parties!

One of the larger decisions was countertop.  I absolutely love the look of marble, but I also knew I’m an odd neat freak.  I knew the first time I spilled red wine, or squirted lemon I would for sure have a panic attack! So we went with Caesartstone Quartz and have absolutely loved it!

I decided to go with all brass accents in the kitchen.  The lantern pendants are so gorgeous and the size works well with our 10 ft ceilings.  I found the hardware online, and again the brushed brass finish is the perfect compliment to the white.  Finally, I has seen this rug by Caitlin Wilson and absolutely fell in love.  It’s the perfect pop of color in this space!

One of my favorite things is that we paneled anything and everything we could.  I was over cleaning fingerprints off of stainless steel.  So we paneled the fridge, dishwasher, and fridge drawers (to the right of the fridge).  I highly recommend going that route if at all possible.

Finally on my list was open shelving.  A place to store some more decorative items and bring a little more color into the kitchen! We went with marble subway backsplash and used it behind the open shelves as well which just adds to this focal point!
