No matter what time of year it is, certain areas of the home just need an update. It doesn’t have to be a big or expensive change, but sometimes even something as simple as changing your curtains can make all the difference!
Curtains are a great way to update your space because it’s super easy to do and, best of all, affordable! There are many different varieties of curtains, but one of my favorite options other than linen curtain panels are pinch pleat curtains.
So today, I’m dedicating this post to discussing all the details about pinch pleat curtains and how you can use them to update your windows simply and affordably!
Updating Windows with Pinch Pleat Curtains
Switching up your curtains is important because it can completely change the way your space looks and feels. But it’s important to know which type of window treatments you like the most and how each type can affect the atmosphere of your space.
Updating windows with pinch pleat curtains is a favorite of mine because they are timeless and elegant while also offering a warm and inviting vibe to the home. I especially love that you can customize pinch pleat drapes to fit your window exactly as you like!
What Are Pinch Pleat Curtains
If you’re unfamiliar with pinch pleat curtains, I’ll fill you in on some of the details. A pinch pleat is a gathering of fabric that is folded and sewn into place at the top of the curtains and between each pleat is a flat section.
This beautiful pleated detail gives the overall look of the curtain face an elegant ripple effect that flows down the length of the material. It’s a beautifully tailored design that really elevates these window treatments above the classic simple curtain options.
I love updating my windows with pinch pleat curtains and apparently, many other people do too as they have become an extremely popular option over the past several years. Their popularity is well earned though because the design is timeless and can be incorporated into any home no matter what interior design style.
How to Hang Pinch Pleat Curtains
Step 1: Choose and install a curtain rod or track
Pinch pleat curtains can be hung on either a curtain rod with rings or a track. If you’re installing a new one, be sure to measure the window first, mark the areas you measured with a pencil, and then use the appropriate hardware to install the pole or track.
Tip: if you install the rod higher above the window, it makes the window appear larger!
Step 2: Choose and measure your curtains
The next step is to choose those beautiful pinch pleat curtains! You will need to measure the length from the curtain rod to your floor to ensure that the curtains fall to the appropriate spot.
Most curtains come in standard lengths but there are also usually options to customize them if you want.
Step 3: Hang the curtains
Now it’s time to hang the curtains. If you’re using a track, you’ll need to first attach curtain hooks to the the material.
Try laying the curtains on a flat surface, then count the number of pleats on the material as this will tell you the number of hooks you’ll need. Once there’s a hook attached to each pleat, insert the hooks into the track.
If you’re using a curtain rod, simply thread each pleat onto the curtain rings. Once you’ve hung your pinch pleat curtains you can slide and adjust the spacing on the rod or track to achieve the desired look.
