Each season, the front porch is one of my favorite spaces to decorate, but especially at Christmastime! Your front door is the first thing your guests will see when they come to your house, and a well-decorated one is the best way to welcome them to your home!

Today I’m sharing a round-up of Holiday front porch decorating ideas that will add a perfect touch of festive charm and warmth to your entryway this holiday season!

Holiday Front Porch Decorating Ideas

1. Go All Neutral

If you’re not one for bright or bold colors at Christmastime, not to worry, a neutral-themed front porch can still look just as magical! Try using exclusively neutral-colored decor like lanterns, baskets, door mats, etc. for the perfect matching look. Or you can also add a flocked wreath or small flocked faux Christmas tree to your decor. The white snowy look will add the perfect neutral touch to your display.

2. Go Faux

Using faux wreaths, garlands and trees means you can start decorating extra early and they’ll look great all season long! No sweeping away pine needles after Christmas. You can easily dress up your faux items with bows, bells, lights, and more!

3. Keep it Simple

If you have a smaller front porch, then keeping the decor simple is your best bet. Small decor pieces like a wreath on your front door or a cute festive doormat can be the perfect yuletide touch that your house needs! Or even something as simple as adding a string of lights around your front door can be more than enough for a small space.

4. Use Natural Elements

Using nature as your decorator can be a lovely way to spruce up your front step. Use a greenery wreath for your front door, drape a lush garland around the frame, then top it off with a cute mini faux Christmas tree! There is something about using natural elements as decor that makes me feel so festive! I love to use faux greenery in my decorating, that way you get the beautiful, lush look, without any of the mess!

5. Make it Merry and Bright

Is there such a thing as too many Christmas lights? The Griswolds would say no, and so do I! I love to incorporate festive lights into my front porch at Christmastime because it creates a welcoming and warm glow to the space. Wrap them around the columns of your front porch, add them to a wreath on the front door or string them across your gutters. Even one small string of lights can really brighten your display and make it feel very festive.

My Favorite Front Porch Holiday Decor

Doormats

Doormats are one of my favorite pieces for Holiday front porch decorating! They’re easy to swap out and you can create a ton of different combinations of festive doormats and rugs. I like to pair this cute tree doormat from Kohl’s and this handwoven outdoor rug from McGee and Co. for a lovely Christmas combo. There are so many beautiful Holiday doormats to choose from, you’re sure to find one that’s perfect for your front porch!

Wreaths

Holiday wreaths are a must-have when it comes to Christmas porch decor. You can use them year after year to add the perfect touch of yuletide cheer. You find them at many different price ranges so if you’re decorating on a budget, these are a great choice for you. This one from Target is a great option because it has faux pine branches is arranged together to create a full look, and it’s only $40! I also love this stunning wreath from McGee and Co.!

Baskets

Baskets are a great way to add some texture to your front porch decor. Wicker ones in particular are a great option because they’re durable and they provide an earthy vibe to the space. Plus, you can use them to showcase other pieces of Christmas decor! I love this rattan one from Wayfair or set of 3 woven baskets from Amazon is another great choice!

Bells

Don’t you love the hear the jingle of Christmas bells during the holiday season? I definitely do! They can be a beautiful piece of decor on their own, but they can also be a charming addition to your front door wreaths or garlands! These hanging bells from Amazon are a favorite of mine for the Holidays.

Faux Garlands

Garlands are one of my favorite pieces of decor to use at Christmastime. I love the look of a big, lush garland framing a front door! The beautiful greenery adds the perfect festive touch to the space. Plus, it’s another no-mess option that is super easy to maintain. Check out my blog post here for some more of my favorite options!!\

Lanterns

Lanterns are a great way of adding some mood lighting to your front porch, but they’re also great as decor! Try adding different sizes of lanterns to your space to really add some dimension. These ones from Target are a great choice and you can find them in multiple sizes! Or if you’re going for a more rustic look, then try these lanterns from Pottery Barn!
